Digitisation Projects funded by HLF
and Pilgrim Trust
The Archive has completed two major digitisation
projects funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and the Pilgrim Trust.
The HLF project ran between 1998 and 1999 with
a target digitisation of 30,000 images. This project started our
digital catalogue and collections were chosen that would enable
a bedrock of information to be set down. A further project funded
by the Pilgrim Trust commenced in 2001 and ran for 2 years, with
a target digitisation of a further 20,000 images. As well as adding
to the in-house digital catalogue, the Pilgrim Trust material was
also disseminated to key local libraries and available through a
dedicated 'image portal'.
The Archive continues with digital work and has
developed its own software to catalgue all the material. Future
plans are to host all of the material on the world wide web.
