Requesting and Using Pictures

The fairground is a very visual subject, and its history has always been recorded through photography. The NFA has a large image collection and has made great strides in digitising its visual resources. Many of these images can be seen on our Image Portal but the NFA holds substantially more than the 1000 images that are visible through this gallery portal.

Supplying images for personal use

Images can only be supplied in a printed format, available at a variety of resolutions and associated costs. These images are for personal and study use only, and, once supplied, are not allowed to be copied or distributed in any way. In addition, it must be noted that any images held by the NFA as part of general collections that are not the copyright of the NFA cannot be supplied for users under any circumstances whatsoever.

The terms and conditions for supplying images are split into two categories: for users visiting the archive and for users unable to visit the archive and thus requesting images via email, letter, telephone, etc.

In addition, it must be noted that users visiting the archive are not permitted to create their own electronic copies of images using apparatus such as digital cameras or camera phones.

The NFA can supply images for re-use projects such as published work, electronic publications, or displays and exhibitions. Associated costs and conditions vary.
