Triumphant Rhyl
Our material on the history of Rhyl continues to grow, and alongside our previous two galleries showing the North Wales coastline in decline and a vibrant set of 80s images of Ocean Beach, we now add a selection from the 1960s to the 1980s showing the resort developing the Ocean Beach sea-front with a selection of attractions that very much define the passing eras.

On a short visit is Scott's Lang Wheels Flying Coaster, with Trabant and Morley's Waltzer in background (late 1960s).

Car ride with wooden Big Dipper visible, Ronnie Weston has taken over the Seldon Twist (late 1960s).

Gallopers with more of the Big Dipper evident (late 1960s).

This image of Scott's Flying Coaster shows the Caterpillar in action in the background (late 1960s).

The resort appears to have utilised about three Bennetts Satellite rides in its history.

A 1970s photograph of the newly installed Pinfari Roller Coaster.

The 1980s craze 'Cinema 180'.

Ronnie Seldon's new Bennett Twist (early 1960s by the hairstyles and fashion).

A short-lived attraction - the Super Loops (early 1980s).

The long-standing Rotor that seemed to evade photographs! Seen here at an angle in its last days.

General view from top of Water Chute - Rotor (rear) and Maxwell Ark evident (late 1970s).
