This small selection of picture-based articles looks at Irish fairs and amusement parks in 2007, basing itself on the changing tradition and moves towards a very contemporary level of fairground machinery.

This first collection looks at the impact of the Miami Trip in Ireland - a ride which has quickly mirrored its popularity in mainland UK, and in doing so has started to squeeze out some of the more traditional Irish rides such as the Octopus. It was only three years ago (2004) that you could find up to 10 Octopus rides in Ireland, and this year we found only a single machine in operation. The reasoning for this is the rapid increase in the Miami Trip ride and the affordability of new machines such as those from the FunLight company. In addition, Ireland also has some incredible new 'Nottingham UK' built premier Miami rides.
