Gallery 33 - Peter Wellen, American Amusement Park, 1960s
Peter Wellen's collection of fairground images arrived in the archive 2012. Largely unidentified, they consisted of a clump of images from the 1960s alongside a more modern set. Within the 1960s images we found these photographs of an unidentified American Amusement Park showing some of the classic stateside rides of the 1960s. We find these images have great value as they provide a contrast to attractions predominant in UK parks.

Possibly a Hustler-style ride?

Eyerley Fly-o-Plane, common in the USA but only one registered in the UK.

Flying Coaster, possibly built by Conklins or one of the other manufacturers.

A twin-carred Octopus - did any of these make it into the UK.

Hrubetz built Meteorite awaiting opening.

Underside of the Hustler showing Meteorite and a Dive Bomber in the background.

A Rock-o-Plane with a Tilt-a-Whirl in the foreground.

'Traditional' American Carousel.
